  • Graphic Accelerator for Laptops

Being new to Skytrak and interested in TGC, I've been eyeballing a new PC build since I last updated my desktop back in 2010. Big thing that's held me back so far is that want portability, like a laptop. But I don't want sink a load of money into a gaming laptop that I can't upgrade it's components at a later date. Specifically for the purpose of gaming.
After some further digging, I found this interesting bit of tech that would somewhat make future proofing a little easier for laptops. No idea what the price is but AnandTech indicated "not cheap at all".

I haven't tested one but this is the direction I plan on going myself. I am a fan of having just one mobile computer for everything and love the idea of just being able to dock it to a graphics accelerator/hub like this for gaming.

Here are a couple links on the tech:

These are available now for certain mobile devices, but very soon it will be available to any mobile device with a Thunderbolt 3 port.

Hmmm. Good review here. It looks like there is quite a bit of graphics performance degradation when going through thunderbolt.

I may just have to build a dedicated gaming pc specific for the sim room.
