I currently am just using a cloth painters tarp to hit foam balls into. I have a net and impact screen on the way so I can start hitting real balls. The question I have is how tight to have the net and screen. I have read that some have the net tight behind the screen and the screen pretty loose. Does this sound correct? I just don't want balls shooting back at me from the screen. I'm only about 7.5' away.

It's all trial and error. Usually net tight and screen just tight enough to remove the wrinkles and keep it from getting waves after hitting. I have yet to come up with the ideal tension. Hoping when i get this new screen I can figure it out. -
I spent a fair bit of time playing with mine. I think I've got it to about as good as I can. I don't have any wrinkles, and since putting a mattress protector behind it, I don't get any bounce back.
I've gone with a pretty tight net, and a fairly loose screen.Comment

Net came yesterday. so I messed with it a bit trying to get it on my frame. Don't think I'll be able to get it as tight as I want without changing my frame from PVC to conduit. So I'm going to attach it with cable ties which I believe will be tight enough. Screen should be here tomorrow which I plan on installing with tarp clips and bungees.Comment

Well I went ahead and installed to impact screen last night. Mostly anyway. I was a little disappointed with the bleed through. I got the Carl's impact screen off of Amazon. Not the premium. I can pretty much see right through it and when the projector is on I can clearly see the netting behind the screen. I figured I would either put a dark sheet, blackout cloth or a painters cloth between the screen and the net. I know some of you have ran into this situation. Any advise on how to lessen the bleed through. Otherwise the screen looks nice and solid. Haven't hit balls yet though.Comment

I bought a cheap tarp from Lowes. Only issue is that it increases the noise of the impact.Comment

Painters cloth is cheap. Even a king size bed sheet will be better.Comment

Boo, at some point I will probably go with the EMT but I already had the pvc frame made for when I was hitting foam balls so we'll see how it does. That being said, I have the screen installed and I am very happy with. I did end up using the painters tarp from harbor freight and it made quite a difference in the image.
