  • Feedback on enclosure and Carls screens

    Hello,

I have everything together to finish the simulator minus the screen/enclosure (am I in the right forum?).

    Room dimensions
    13.5 x 17x 9'10''
    Projector Benq2150ST

I was leaning toward building a cage 10X12x3 deep. The projector is going to be ceiling mounted. Is there a concern with the image being interfered with by the top of the enclosure? I have seen some pictures of the top portion of the enclosure being at an angle of sorts. I didn't know if this was to catch wedge shots or for image concerns. Also I haven't seen any fittings that come in any angle besides the 90 degree angles. Thank you for your input here.

Secondly I am leaning towards Carl's screens. Does anyone have feedback on their 3 quality levels. I am leaning toward medium grade (Carl's preferred) and would welcome thoughts from someone who may have had previous experience.

    Thank you!

Check tarps.com for fittings. They have different angles.

Thanks wbond! Do you believe that the regular cage without angles could interfere with the image?

You would have to draw it out to determine if it would interfere. I would use projector central for the dimensions of the image with your projector.

Edit - I meant to add I paid about $235 for it and it's now about $210 on amazon. I should have waited a month

I ordered this one in March and like it so far. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Cost was my biggest concern but of course wanted something that will hold up too. A little early to tell about the longevity but so far so good. It does leave indents in the screen immediately after a shot but seem to go away when you hit another shot. This is the only screen I've owned so I don't have anything to compare it with but it doesn't seem particularly loud to me. It does have a lot of bleed through from the projector so I put a painters tarp behind it and picture I would say is good not great. I would say with the tarp behind it about a 7 out of 10 on picture quality which doesn't bother me a bit. I have some pics attached. These are before I upgraded to a 1080p projector but should give you some idea.

Wbond thank you. I went to projector central to determine distances away from screen but not height. I will go again to see if gives clear indication of image interference.

JB50, thank you for chiming in. Your set up looks awesome and you have helped me on the decision.
