  • Side and Top Panel attachment on Setup from Spectrum/Innovative Golf

I finally purchased a cage and screen.

Got it from Chip at Innovative or Spectrum golf and he was really great to work with. Gave him my space requirements and he gave me a recommended size that I went with.

Setup was/is going well except for one small piece.

I am having a heck of a time getting the side panels up. The screen sits 14 inches from the back part of the frame. It looks like you need to use two bungee balls to attach it and then one on the front part. Problem is, I can't seem to get it to stretch the 14 inches it needs to in order to connect the panel to the front part of the frame.

Anyone purchase this setup in the past and have any advice?

I'm going to email Chip, but I thought I would check with the knowledge base here since he may be enjoying the weekend.

Did you ever figure it out? My experience with Spectrum has been a nightmare. The instructions are so vague and they contradict themselves.

I did. I ended up buying longer bungee balls. Chip was not much of a help.

Chip is a nightmare and his products need a lot of work to function properly. I’m still struggling to get the screen attached to the frame properly. There was way too much bounce back when I used the pvc poles

I ditched the pvc poles and bungeed the screen to the poles using clips from Home Depot. I left the bottom just hanging. Still great picture and minimal bounce back.

I ended up ditching the PVC at the bottom. Haven't been able to test it yet, but I'm hoping it'll reduce some of the bounce back.

I also left the black baffle in the back just hanging but had to double up on the zip ties.

I wished I would have seen this thread before I bought a system from Spectrum Golf. They really should change their name to Spectacle Golf. Chip was HORRIBLE to work with. Email after email was sent with no response for several days. I placed calls, nobody answered and nobody replied to voice mails left. My box showed up and was destroyed by the shipping company. I sent an email asking if all the parts that remained was everything needed. No response for days. Of course someone wouldn't need this if their instructions were worth a crap. I think a third grader can write better instructions and better diagrams than the ones he drew in crayon on the instructions I received.

The system I have has horrible bounce back issues. While hitting driver the golfer has to stand "on guard" while hitting and the other players in the room need to play "where's Waldo" with the golf ball as it goes flying. I have loosened all the straps on the hitting screen and and have removed some of the zip ties on the back panel to test if that helps. Looking at other threads it sounds like if the back panel is too tight that causes most of the bounce back issues. I will cut off the remaining zip ties and replace them with ties that loosen the overall back panel to see if that helps.

Bottom line - buy a screen from someone else. You will be much happier in the end - Trust me!

I've been racking my brain on how to prevent the bounce back as well. I pretty much have the back panel only hanging now and still too much. I'm thinking about cutting the bottom third of the PVC on the sides to see if that helps? But my hopes are low.

And you are right, they are not very responsive there.

So here is a follow-up with Chip at Spectrum Golf. They apparently didn't like my negative feedback that I left for the purchase on eBay. So he contacts me (faster than he did when I was asking for his assistance BTW) saying he would give me $25 for me to remove the negative review. I was honest with my feedback on eBay just like I was honest here on this forum. Like I said before, I wish I would have seen this thread before I purchased from Spectrum.

Hilarious, he did the same thing to me. I followed the proper process on Ebay and he didn't like it. Responds quickly to ebay, but slow on others.
