Im new to the forum and Ive been reading a lot to get inspiration and learn... lots of good info on here so thanks to all that have contributed. I'm here, obviously, because I am planning a simulator build. I'm recently single, no kids, and no use for this dumb dining room table so I decided to sell it make better use of the space.
My requirements: under $2000 total, can double as a TV screen for football games, largest screen area possible, offset mounted projector (see pic).
So far Ive purchased the Optishot 2, the grass turf, and rubber tiles for underlayment (in $510 so far). The computer, lighting, curtains, and such I can handle... I am here because I know little about the projector and screen aspect- mainly how to choose a projector that will work offset as shown. Has anyone mounted one this way? I just dont want an overhead because of the cathedral ceilings, it would need a 10' pole hanging down. I also want to keep it closer to the laptop to reduce the wiring.
I've read about the lens shift feature some have, but I am having trouble finding one <$500 with it. Keystoning is common, but I have no clue how to calculate the screen size after I adjust for it and if it will even adjust enough from my offset. I found a wall mount that extends to about 42"... I know it would help to have exact measurements, but I am working overseas right now and can't take them until I get home. I will get some exact measurements next week.
All I have left are a screen ($250-350), curtains for sides ($100), projector ($400-600), screen mounting hardware ($75-125), and a net for the top ($100). I have spare clubs and a laptop to use. Can anyone think of anything else?
