  • How long does your impact net last? Tips?

I have an enclosure that drops from my ceiling. I have archery style netting 10 x 10 in front of a larger fish net style net enclosure. I keep working holes through the netting. The process of vulturing netting from the fringes to make a patch with net/paracord, or rotating my net, is getting quite annoying as my net only makes it a few months before it starts to frazzle and wear a hole.

How long does your impact screen/net last?
Do screens last longer than archery style nets?
Do you use an impact target to reduce wear?
Any tips for extending life of net?

I try to use unscuffed new balls and that does seem to help. I have noticed that when I patch areas if I burn the edges with a torch that seems to help too.

      Have had a simulator for 4 seasons now 14' x 10' screen

I have struggled with the same issues our first screen that came with the Pro tee package we frayed the hitting area in 1 season turned the screen and had a hole all the way through and had to hang a sheet to finish the 2nd year. Beginning of 3rd season purchased a "premium" screen hoping it would be better lasting. Noticed the puckering and dimpling that were the start of wearing out the first screen. Panicked and put old screen back up behind new screen to try and give it more support, didn't help so put sheet back up in impact area to save the screen.

Have tried tighter and looser on the screen, harder shell new golf balls for less spin, but I believe because we are only about 12' from the screen and the number of shots in the same area you are either going to have to replace the screen every 2-3 seasons or place some kind of impact target. I had considered putting an archery net if front of the impact screen but hated the thought of spending all the money for a good quality picture screen and then putting the net to ruin the picture quality and from your post looks like this isn't a great option either.

Now we do use the simulator, a lot, so it may not be a fair thing to ask of a screen to last longer than it does
