  • Uk Garage Simulator Build - South Coast

    Good Evening All,

Looking into putting a Golf Sim within my current garage. Am initially going to start out with an enclosure, back net, and then the white archery netting as my impact screen as we have a lot less choice than you guys over in the US and have had a couple of recommendations of them from Uk users.

Yesterday i drew up a few diagrams and i have to say a thank you to P3eps who i am basing my enclosure on.

My enclosure is going to be 3.1m x 2.7m with an initial net sat on the back of 2.94m x 2.7m which means a little of the back netting shall gather on the floor and then archery netting sitting on the front with a size of 2.94m x 2.62m it is slightly smaller in the width and length to allow me to tighten and hold in place with the ball bungees that many of you seem to use.

Does those measurements and more importantly the prediction of gap of 8cm between the edge of the nets and the frame sound suitable? I know i will be able to play with it once set up but am just after initial thoughts before i bite the bullet and purchase it. I am going to be using The Metal Store as they cut everything to the exact length required.

Thanks for viewing this post and I am keen to know the location of other Uk Sim Builders as the US seems to be way ahead of us Brits when it comes to this.

    Many Thanks
    Richie

I’d personally prefer a gap a bit larger than 8cm so that there’s more room to adjust the tension of the screen/net. If you don’t have the option to chance the size I think you’ll be fine. The edges are not important - you will likely never hit a ball more than a meter away from the center of your sceeen. I am an excellent shanked, and when I do I still hit the screen with plenty of room to spare.

      Evening jrz,

      Thanks for the reply.

That 8cm is either side of the frame, so in total will be 16cm in width smaller than the frame. Would you suggest perhaps 16cm each side then? I am getting the nets custom built so they can be any size I want.

      Cheers
      Richie

        Hi Richie

im based in the uk too and went down the archery net route, my sim is in a single garage 3m wide, I’ve got my net attached with tarp clips via bungie cord to slotted angle irons on the left and rift side, and via wire rope at the top. I’ve got about 8cm between the screen edge and the walls and I’m hitting to the right side of the screen due to the offset because of space limitations. I’ve got a wooden side panel on the right side covered with carpet tile which deflects and shanks back on to the screen.

I’ve had 2 archery nets both sourced in the uk, the weave density was very different between the 2 nets, the better of the 2 nets was sourced from golfswingsystems and it had a markedly improved picture quality when using a projector.

Hi , I'm based in Ireland. Similar dimensions  garage to yourself.

I have skytrak with game improvement. I'm picking up a gaming pc next week. I wonder would the Archery net from golfswingsystems be good enough for the golf game software.

Yes I would say so, I play TGC projected onto the archery baffle, the picture certainly isn’t as sharp as a movie screen but from the distance you hit from it’s not massively noticeable. Here’s a guy comparing the archery baffle ( looks similar to the one I got from golfswingsystems) and a higher quality impact screen. https://youtu.be/yqMu2qkaSUg

I’m glad my post has been of some use to you!
ive only got 2” gap at either side between my screen edge / frame. This was the spec Cory at Par2Pro recommended. There’s plenty of space for adjustment there, and I lose minimal amounts of white space!
