Thanks is for the add. After reading many posts I have a few questions regarding a new garage build. I have a sky trak, optoma gt1080 darbee, net return home (7' x 7' opening), with ceiling height at 8' 7". I can ceiling mount the projector anywhere between 5ft-15ft from the screen. Thinking of the Carl's preferred screen but my main question is: would you get a smaller screen and attach it directly to the net return or a larger (thinking 8.5 ft h x 10 ft w), mounted to ceiling and drape it. Thought about a few sand bags at the base for an anchor. Also, I was thinking of a DIY mini bay (i was looking for basic plans using EMT but did not find any).I appreciate your thoughts and ideas.

If you DIY a mini bay, use Tarps.com for your fittings and just purchase what you need to put it together.
Keep in mind, if you only have 8'7" of ceiling height and mount the projector to your ceiling, the top of your projected image is going to be quite a bit lower than that. Using your full 7' width of the net return, the image will start about 10" below the center of the lens, so the top of your image is probably just above 7' off the ground and the image will come down about 5'3". This is in 4:3 mode. Also the projector would be mounted 4'8" from the screen.

OK, I have my projector ceiling mounted (due to a support beam it's only 6.5ft from the wall), the skytrak setup along with the Net Return home. I tested the image I can get directly displayed on the wall, which will give me up to 7.5ft H x about 9ft W. I also tried to test the image on the net return (hung a sheet to see if I could get an image), but due to the depth of the net return I am unable to get a usable image. My questions are: would you go with a screen from customdesigngolf.com or from Spectrum golf. If SG, would you go with supertex or or poly? I've tried reading up on these options, but I haven't found any definitive answers. Second question (assuming I'll be draping it from the ceiling), how far from the wall would you mount the screen? 6", 12", and would you add any padding behind it? thanks for all the help.

Can't speak to the screen question, but I am working on a very similar setup. I got fittings from tarps.com and based on how I am making the frame the screen will be about 12 inches from the back garage wall. The size of the fittings pretty much made the decision for me. If you know that basic structure you are trying to build, get the fittings you need and then go from there would be my suggestion.

I have the supertex screen. Had it for about a year and it has held up great. My projector is BenQ MW632ST so my resolution is much lower then your Optoma. I'd really like the higher resolution but I'm not sure it would look that much better with my screen. It takes a golf ball really well but I do believe the image suffers even with my projector.
I do like the 16:10 image better then any other I have seen.
