  • Screen is up...but...

so I have my screen ‘from the mill’ up, but I have extra screen on the one side and bottom. I only have the screen anchored at the top. I have also left my hitting net behind it, but it is also only connected at the top. After I hit a few shots the screen shifts and has to be smoothed out. Here is what I am thinking, please tell me which you prefer or if I am crazy.

Option one, anchor the bottom right and bottom left corners.

Option two, cut off the excess on the side and bottom and hope it hangs straight.

    Option three, any ideas?

    Thank you,
    Range44
    Dan

I'm in the same boat. I'm on the material list for a 13x10 screen but my frame is 9 x 7.5. I am going to try these:

And see if I can set up the screen with the extra material overlapping behind the screen. If it works it would give me the ability to scroll the material 3 feet side to side and a couple of feet vertically to change the impact position and hopefully extend the life of the screen. I plan to use some pvc to roll the extra material up and stash it behind the side upright on the frame. Keeping fingers crossed.

That's an interesting idea, haven't seen those before, will be curious to how they work for you

How is the screen anchored at the top? You always want to have some give otherwise you will have a trampoline effect and have to dodge the richoccets.

tarp clips and bungees on the sides. Loosely tensioned. not pulled tight. nothing at the bottom. just let it hang

I intentionally bought mine wider so if it wears, i can unroll it a little and have a new impact area. What i did, was to fold over the top portion to get the height i wanted, then use tarp clips along the top with adjustable ball bungees. I then did the same thing on one side, fold it over a little and use the same method, the tarp clips hold better with it folded over. On the the opposite side where there is the excess width, i folded it over to get the width i wanted and attached tarp clips again. Then i took the excess and started folding it back towards the edge and then put a couple tarp clips on the top to hold it in place. Now the screen is held on three sides and the bottom is left loose.

I tarp clipped and bunged on 3 sides also.

Thank you, I have the top connected with tarp clips and bungees, and nothing on sides or bottom, so it’s definitely not tight. I will try adding a connection or two on the sides to see if that helps, at least before I unhook the top and re-fold.

I have several bungees on the top and both sides, with the bottom hanging free. Works like a charm, little bounce back and not too much rippling on impact.

I added the bungees on both sides and seems to have worked just fine. I have some lumps show up during play at the bottom, but it’s mostly from the excess that is laying on the ground. Loving the new screen.

How do you deal with sagging in the middle of the net? If the net is 12 feet wide, won't it sag in the middle? I actually bought a Proscreen, 8x10, but they sent me a 9x12 foot screen. Rather than sending the 9x12 back and waiting for the 8x10 screen to get delivered, I may just modify the larger screen. I'm worried about the middle of the screen sagging either way? Will the EMT sag in the middle or do I need to build some sort of support?

For my build, I have a sewn in loop at the bottom of the screen. I have ran a bungee rope and tightened it fairly tight on both sides, that holds it down and also holds it from letting the screen go too far back. I have also added a couple of zip ties on the left and right corners to give the maximum amount of give I will allow. Seems to be working well for me, but I don't have a monster swing speed either.
