  • Pre-Screen baffle netting

    Hi All

I've just started planning a Skytrak sim for my garage. Unfortunately due to location I need to keep it as quite as possible. I've tested hitting into sheets and the THUD is quite loud.

I'd like to get some baffle netting which is incredibly quiet, however I'd also like to project through it as i'll have a floor mounted projector on my side of that baffle netting. I believe it will create some shadowing, but I was hoping to find a net that was quite light and had large holes/gaps. It also needs to 160mph ball speeds. I've noticed that the sim they have on the golf channel has a lightweight net in front of it exactly like i'm looking for.

Does anyone know what netting I should be looking for that matches these qualities?

    Thanks

    AL

No idea about that specific netting. I did switch to archery nettting that I project onto and it was more quiet than previous material. I bet a Rukket net in front might work ok, it’s still going to block projector but would solve your issues.

Archery netting isvery quiet and can be projected on. Not the greatest picture but it works.

Snaphook, I had heard the same thing. After blowing through my screen in 6 months, I saw this video and talked to a couple of guys that have had their archery netting last years. Up close you can see the weave but from hitting distance I really don’t notice https://youtu.be/yqMu2qkaSUg

I did put some black fabric behind the archery netting and it made the picture way better. Now i have a db golf screen but i left the archery netting behind it.
So now i have quiet and great picture :-) But for sim only i could easily live with the archery netting with a black backing.

I have my old screen behind my archery netting wonder if that’s helping.

It probably is helping. You could try to squeeze some black fabric between them and see if it's better.

Thanks guys. I like the look of the Archery screen. Where did you guys purchase yours Archery nets from and do you know if they ship to Aus? I've had a look and it looks pretty tough to get it here.

I got mine from west coast netting. Not sure about Australia. I think I heard it’s hard to come by over there.

Thanks again. I've pulled the trigger on some archery netting from Merlin Archery above. At $200 AUD delivered to Aus, it came in way under what I had seen elsewhere and they were very friendly and helpful. Certainly worth a shot.

So I wanted to give a shout out to Merlin Archery (that Snaphook recommended above). I made my order last Thursday and they had it shipped from the U.K to Aus by the following Wednesday. Amazing shipping speeds and chatting to their support was fantastic. Comparatively, I ordered a PC from a local dealer on the same day and it still hasn't even shipped... (don't buy from Umart!). I also ordered a netting cage the same day from local and it too hasn't arrived yet.

            Bravo Merlin Archery!
