  • Space between net and screen

I’m going to change my screen setup, so I thought I would ask how much space people have between their net and screen. My current setup has the net almost touching the screen, but I have black lines from the edge of the net showing through the screen and it drives me crazy. So, a few questions:

    - Would moving the net a couple inches behind the screen provide better image quality, i.e. reduce or eliminate the black bars? If I did this, would it impact bounce back of the life of the screen?

    - Would there be a benefit to having a blanket in between the screen and net? I don’t have an issue with bounce back in the current setup, but I’m wondering if the blanket in between would help reduce impact noise

    - Would there be any reduction in impact noise if I put sound dampening on the walls behind the screen?

In general, I’m attempting to improve the image quality and reduce the noise as much as possible.

I would try to use a black blanket between the screen and the net. This will improve picture and dampen sound.

For sure you should try some sound dampening on the walls behind the screen. If there is only bare walls you basically have a drum, great for making noise.
My setup is: Screen, black fabric, archery net and then on the back wall i use Molton (stage masking fabric) I have very low impact noise and great picture.

We went to the U-Haul store and purchased the extra large moving blankets. we then sewed two of them together to create the backer for our screens. They don't create any additional bounce back and have very good sound isolation properties.
