    Spandex

I've been reinstalling my screen and trying different configurations, and I have it working pretty well overall. The thing that helped the image quality the most was putting black fabric between the screen and the net. However, I'm starting to get a bunch of pieces of black fuzz all over my floor after only a few hundred balls hit. The fabric was very thin so I doubled it, but it clearly isn't going to be a long term solution. So...

I took a chance and bought 6 yards by 122" of black heavyweight Spandex. Once it comes in I'll replace the black fabric and see if it does a good job on image quality, durability, and sound dampening. I'll post my thoughts once I get it all together and test it for a while.

So, it turns out I'm an idiot. The spandex came in and I took down the black fabric backing that I assumed was the source of the shredding. Instead I found a moving blanket that was completely destroyed after about 2 weeks! What a waste of time and money, turns out I could have just removed the blanket and kept the old black backing fabric in place. Now I have to rehang everything, that will take the better part of a day. Jeez, I feel really stupid now.

Don’t worry it’s lots of trial and error for most of us. What works for one doesn’t work for another.
