This was my first build so I am doing this review from a novice point of view. The folks at Par2pro were very easy to work with and responsive to questions. The screen was shipped promptly. It arrived boxed and wrapped inside of a plastic bag.
The first thing that I noticed is that the SQ material is kind of an antique white. I did a comparison by holding up a sample of a Carl's premium screen (has a more 'snow' white color) that I have against the SQ screen while projecting and could not notice a difference. Both appeared to have the same color balance and sharpness.
The screen is a thick material. The Carl's premium sample and the SQ screen are very similar in terms of thickness. The SQ screen is perhaps very slightly thicker. It actually looks like two fabrics with a fiber or foaminess sandwiched in between. The screen that I received exhibited no major creases having set in due to packing/shipping.
Cory at Par2pro told me that there is a 'shinier' side which is intended for projection. It is not easy to distinguish but under a bright light one side does appear to have a flatter finish. You have to look very closely to see the weave in the material. The projected image comes through very crisply on the screen. I was able to see the individual pixel squares from the projector on the screen on close examination.
The screen really is super quiet. I would compare the sound of a ball strike on the screen to the sound you would hear if you swat a carpet hanging on a clothes line with a stick. Kind of a quiet thump. My screen is fastened across the top and down the sides (loosely). I use a frame secured on top and sides but loose at the bottom. Bounce back is about a foot. Of course time will tell about durability, but so far I'm quite pleased.
