  • New to simulator golf - should I start with a stand net or build my own screen?

Ok, so like the title says, I'm new to all this. I already have skytrak unit, and I have a CCE mat on the way. I will be setting everything up the corner of my spare room. The room has tall vaulted ceilings. Wall is at 8 feet, but it rises quick. It's more than high enough where I'm swinging.

I'd like to eventually get a projector and screen setup. But most setups are 10x10 (and as come out 10 feet) I was looking to buy a setup that was more like 8 or 9 feet tall that comes out 5 feet. But if I'm using a net that pushes back, 10 feet should be fine as it will be further away the wall .I want netting that protects the sides, as i am sure I'll be having friends over who aren't great at golf.

Any recommendations? Should i just get a preconstructed net to start? I've found cheap sklz flat nets are perfect height but don't have side protect protection. Or there's a cage that looks about right, 7x7x5 i think. Both under 150 shipped.

I noticed several nice build options on spectrsumgolf. Or the fitting pieces on ebay (I assume i can use custom specs)

Thoughts? I can post pics tomorrow if it helps.

Off topic - I can barely use this forum to type anything. I get crazy autocorrects most words.

If you go with building your own EMT enclosure you can customize it as you want. You just buy the fittings and 10' lengths of EMT and cut them down to your custom requirements. You don't need to have a hitting bay that comes out 10' either... you can do the 5 feet you want. The EMT setup also makes it easy to transition to a screen & projector when the time comes.
