  • sportscreen users.. how to keep the screen taut

I'm a Sportsscreen user and love the thing. It's great. One big issue I have is the fact that the screen hangs free at the bottom. I do have a side curtain which currently is more show than anything else.

How are you guys keeping the screen taut? I have extra slack in the length of the actual impact screen so I keep it on the ground and they lay a 2x4 on top but when I hit my driver it moves. You can see some pictures of my setup in the page I created tracking it. Just updated it with pictures the other day.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions anyone might have.

I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible. I’ve been reading through this forum for several months picking up tips and ideas from several different

I take my kids bike's rear tire and rest it in the left corner behind the screen(I am left handed). Ghetto but works.

I have a pocket in the bottom on the screen that holds 1" emt pipe, this keeps bottom pretty tight

Same. I also use three tarps clips on each side and bungee back to the side walls when I'm using. Takes a minute or two to hook up the clips & bungees.

I have the16' foot wide manual SportScreen and an impact screen also attached to the SportScreen roller that hangs just in front of the black SportScreen material. My impact screen also has a sleeve in the bottom for a pipe. I have tried 3/4 EMT pipe covered in foam pipe insulation in the sleeve. That works really well to keep the screen tight but it's almost too much weight at the bottom of the screen and makes the bounce back a bit too much in my option. The screen looks great, but because it's tighter the ball bounces back more.

My SportScreen came with the long plastic rod that is supposed to go about halfway up the screen but I instead have been using it in the bottom sleeve instead of the EMT pipe. I went ahead and put the plastic rod inside pipe insulation to keep it a little straighter without bowing in the middle.

It still keeps the screen pretty taut, but since it's not as heavy, bounce back is much better. Yes, the screen moves just a little with a driver but I don't mind that. This was a really good compromise for me. You can always sew a little pocket in the bottom of your impact screen if you don't have one. It's pretty easy to do.

          Hope that helps a little.

          Pat.

thanks. I've ordered the 2ft extension from SportScreen folks so it touches the floor. At the moment my impact screen is a good 2ft longer than the sportscreen. I'm thinking about velcroing the impact screen to the sportscreen since the impact screen does not have a pocket and then use the poll at the bottom of the sportscreen. Although not the best option it might be what I can do. My sportscreen is mounted a bit over 4ft from the back wall of the garage and I can't really use anything to tie it down. The wall to the right is a touch over 2ft away and to the left a good 10ft. Plus that would make everything look horrendous.

I have 3 tarp clips on each side of my screen that I hook to eye hooks in the wall with long adjustable bungees. But honestly, I don't usually hook them up anymore because I think my screen works fine and looks fine without them. My bungees and tarp clips are basically hidden because I have side curtains which come up right next to the edge of the screen.
