  • sportscreen setups

So my garage is almost complete, where my sim is going. I already have a GC2, and a CCE mat. I am going to purchase a custom sportscreen, probably 13' wide and getting an impact screen to produce an image of 12x9. I spoke with Cory at par2pro through email and he said the largest screen without doubling the price of an HQSQ is 9.5 high feet but my garage is 10.5' high. So it looks like for my situation the best option will be sewing the screen directly onto the sportscreen.

My question is what do you guys use to sew these onto the sportscreen? My thought is to use industrial velcro across the top of the screen only, and sew across the top only and then figure a way to attach something at the bottom when the screen is in use to keep it tight

Or is there maybe a better option that I have not thought of yet?

Unfortunately I am going to be getting a knee operation in about 4 weeks that will have me on crutches the rest of the summer but I want to have everything at my house to setup when I am up and moving again

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I use Velcro at the top to attache my screen to the sportscreen. My impact screen is 9 ft high but I only roll it down to just about 8 foot so 1 foot is securely still wrapped around the sportscreen. At the bottom I take about 4 inches of the impact screen and secure it under that metal bar that goes the width of the sportscreen. It hangs very nicely/ My total screen size is 9 by 15.

I had hoped to do this, however my ceiling is 10.5 and the highest screen is 9.5 feet.

I asked cory about getting a screen made that was 12x12 so I could wrap it a few times at the top when it is deployed and not have to worry about it, but Cory said that will almost double the price of the screen so I am going to avoid that lol

I use industrial strength velcro on the back of the impact screen and on the black sportscreen material to attach my impact screen. Neither piece of velcro is sewn on. They stick on really well with the industrial strength velcro. You can velcro the screen directly to the sportscreen metal roller above where the sportscreen attaches to the roller. Or I just velcro it to the actual black sportscreen material. I don't even have to worry about leaving some of it rolled around the roller. I just bring it down all the way to the floor. I've always been surprised that this works, but I've had no problems for over a year doing it this way.

I have a 16' wide sportscreen but my impact screen is 9' high x 12' wide. So, I have some extra black sportscreen on the sides of the impact screen. I kind of like that. It makes for a nice frame around the screen. My ceiling is about 10.5' high, so I bought the extra extension piece for the sportscreen so that I could hang it as close to my ceiling as possible. The extension piece makes the sportscreen about 11 feet tall or so. I have the impact screen attached to the sportscreen so that the impact screen just brushes the floor, so I also have some black space at the top above where the impact screen attaches. Again, I kind of like how it looks.

As for the bottom of the screen...sherrow70 has a really good idea just tucking the impact screen under the metal bar at the bottom of the sportscreen. My impact screen has a pocket at the bottom and I used some 3/4 conduit in the pocket for a while to hold the screen taut. The screen looked great, but it gave me too much bounce back so now I use the long plastic rod that comes with the sportscreen in the bottom pocket of my impact screen. I have the plastic rod inside of some pipe insulation so that it fits into my impact screen's pocket a little better.

I've been saying for months that I am going to take a bunch of pictures and do a complete write up on my garage sportscreen setup but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

    Hope that helps a little.

Yeah I was planning on getting my screen 12x9.5 and having par2pro sew a pocket in the bottom like you mentioned.

Did you put velcro around the entire screen or just the top? Also maybe you could provide a link to the velcro you used. That would be great

I used a strip of velcro all the way across the top only, not the entire screen. Here's the stuff I used:

It's the industrial strength velcro and for what it's worth, in my experience it actually matters that you use the industrial strength stuff.

The sport screen comes with Velcro on top when you tell them you are using it for golf.

Was not aware of that, maybe that will be the way to go. And get my screen delivered from Cory with the velcro on as well. Cut down on my own work
Working...
