  • Side wall fabric?

I built a simulator almost a year ago in my workshop. Plenty of ceiling height and roughly 14' wide and 25' long. The walls are unfinished drywall up to 8' high and then garage studs above it. I want to "black out" the walls and ceiling so that the simulator looks more finished instead of the "garage" look. Does anyone have suggestions on fabric that can be used to cover this area? I'm thinking of a stretch type fabric to cover all the walls and ceiling. Any recommendation?

I used black carpet from home depot.

Black carpet tiles, some spray adhesive and you're good to go!

I used flat black paint for the ceiling, covered the drywall with particle board on the walls, and then used black carpet secured by heavy staples on the walls. I ran the particle board and carpet on the walls all the way from the screen to the hitting area and the big carpet pieces were a bit annoying to deal with. If I were to do it over, I'd only run the carpet and particle board on the walls out about 4-5' from the screen for the shanks and then use the flat back paint on the drywall for the rest of the walls to the hitting area. My sim is in the garage so it wasn't important that the finish look professionally done, just that it be blacked out. Good luck!

I used heavy velvet drapes hung from some ceiling track. Like you’d find in a theater. Looks great and can be pulled back if need be.

Where did you get the velvet drapes? Also, what is your enclosure made of?

I purchased my black theater drapes from Chicago canvas. They also have the tracks so you can open and close them if needed. They are very helpful and familiar with golf simulator customer needs.
