  • Golf Sim Enclosure Build

    Hi all,

I’m in the planning process of my SkyTrak sim build and have a few questions.

I’ll be setting up shop in my third stall and think I have it narrowed down to two locations/positions. The first, which I’m leaning towards, will have enough space for a 10’ width setup. This will require very minimal shifting around of clutter in my garage and will be very manageable. The second option is to remove the tracks on my garage door which will give me enough space for basically any setup size I’d like. Ideally, this would be the option I’d prefer, but it will require convincing my wife that removing the tracks is no big deal and blah, blah. That said, I’m not sure it’s worth it. This is mind, is 10 feet in width adequate enough? Or, would you definitely go wider if at all possible?

Second question, I’ve been considering different options for my build regarding enclosures, nets, etc., I think I am leaning towards an enclosure. That said, I’m debating between a 10’H x 10’W x 5’D with retractable netting on the sides for additional protection and a 10’x10’x10’ (obviously will increase width if I go with option two above.) For those that have either, what are your thoughts?

When you say 10' width, I assume that you mean the screen width. What is more important is how much width do you have where you are swinging. If a wall is behind you when you are swinging, you need about 8' from the ball to the wall to swing a driver without hitting the wall on the follow through. But if the other garage bays are behind you and you just have stuff on the ground like a lawn mower or boxes, you could put the ball closer to the middle of the screen because your follow through would go over the lawn mower.
