Hi guys - Spent about 4 weeks reading up on the forum, stealing ideas and snippets from all the previous builds before taking the plunge and starting to convert my garage into a Sim for the winter.
Project started about 3-4 weeks ago with a lot of blood, sweat and tears put into - Delighted with the outcome and getting the use out of both the Sim and Cinema room is already proving to be a sound investment.
As this is a UK build below is the spec and where i bought most of the materials from - hopefully will help any new guys looking to build.
Skytrak and Metal case - £2k (golf swing academy)
Tee turf Mat - £399 for 2m by 2m (golf Swing Academy)
Projector Screenm, angled iron and black finish - £600 - 2.6m by 2.3m (golf swing Academy)
Projector - BenQ TH671st - £650
Laptop - Asus gaming laptop - Amazon - £700
Black Golfing net - 3m x 3m - Circa £35 - https://www.networldsports.co.uk/gol...SABEgL8r_D_BwE
TGC - lifetime purchased - Circa £600-650 (cant remember)
Soundbar - £50 - great buy and adds to the cinema room feeling
Lazy boy seat x 2 - £165 each
Ball Shagger (what a name) - £50
Shelving unit - £45 all in
Beer Fridge - £50 - a MUST in any golf sim room
golf club holders - £20
Still to be put up
Curtains for side wall - £30
Roof Defender - will use netting and CLS.
Materials used for conversion of garage
CLS timber - circa £80-100
Insulated plasterboard - £350 - ebay
Wiring, lights and LED dimmer - circa £75-100 all in.
Carpet and underlay - £350
Total costs are somewhere between - £5.5k - 6k all in - Delighed with the outcome as is the wife and family.
Notes that may help.
1. Garage roof (lower part) is sitting at 8ft, ive raised 4 truss fittings (shown in the images) to allow for the swing room. I'm doubled up the timber frame when raising this. I spoke with an architect friend, a joiner and my brother in law is a structural engineer before pulling down joists. I can swing irons and the 3 wood no problem, driver i choke down on a little. Im 6ft 2 in height so there is room and all my friends are small so there shouldnt be an issue.
2. I will be going behind my screen with a blackout sheet or something to stop any ligh bleed getting through - might be worth thinking about this if using for a cinema room also. Not a major but wish i did this before i put the screen up.
3. Bounce back - I have about 1-2ft of bounce back - Golfing net behind the screen is tight so kills most of the speed - screen is 1ft from the wall.
Again most of what i have taken is from this forum so if i can help anyone with any questions please fire away.

Next: Beer fridge! Your pic of the billiard cue holder for your clubs made me realize that my sim is sorely lacking one!!!
