  • Allsport hanging (rolls up to ceiling) or Par2Pro (retractable w/ netting)?

    Hello,
I am trying to jump into the Simulator world with the limitations of budget and the need to be able to park cars in my garage when not in use.
    I am going with Skytrak.
I'll be installing some kind of enclosure / screen that is perpendicular to the how the cars park. That way I will have plenty of space, it will be positioned well for the computer (there is an ethernet port nearby if I set it up that way), and I won't have to move my garage door openers.
Ok, now on to the real question. Because I need to park cars when the simulator is not in use . . . I am looking at either a retractable screen from Par2Pro or a hanging minibay or superbay from Allsport and then trying to figure out how to get the hanging sides and screen to roll up and attach to the ceiling.
I am waiting on Cory to send me an estimate on a screen and netting for sides / ceiling. (Netting on sides / ceiling is all I could afford after blowing $1,000+ on the screen.)
While I wait, has anyone gone the Allsport route? The bottom sounds easy enough, just slide the heavy chains out of the bottom. But has anyone come up with a easy way to roll everything up and hook it up on the ceiling? Is this a viable option or a colossal pain in the put that just won't work?
The Par2Pro sounds easier with a retractable screen but will be a way way more expensive route - but it may be worth it (perhaps the netting I can just hang and take down vs. Allsport it will be presumably mounted and I'll need to roll the sides and screen up.).
On the other hand maybe Allsport would be easy to do and be way way cheaper.
    ?????
I really appreciate any input you have!!!
    Best regards,
    Michael M.

Kinda surprised no one has tried rolling up a hanging enclosure and attaching it to the ceiling. Or maybe we haven’t heard from them. If you are out there - would love to see pics.
    Thanks

Thanks sherrow. Did you make any mods to the par2pro screen? I see domino had a drawing of what he sent.

No I just told Par2pro what I was doing and they took it from there. I did use zip ties to attach the bottom of the Par2Pro screen to the sportscreen. I also put some Velcro strips on each side vertically about 7 inches apart to keep the screen nice and tight against the sportscreen.

Sherrow, did you go with the 80/20 framing also? I’ve looked into the 1515-S frame but not sure which brackets and “screws” to get.

So I’m thinking about getting the sports screen, do you have to go with the sq screen to be able to roll both screens up together are can you get some other raw screen?

I also have the sports screen and have it attached to the bulkhead of my garage, not played with it much in Summer but about to get back into it with weather turning up here. How are you keeping the screen from turning under itself after you hit, say a driver? I think you said you are using zip ties/velcro on the bottom of the screen attached to the sportscreen, is that working well, i was trying bungees on the sides attached to the wall to keep it tight but it pulls the screen around too much

I have a 16 ft manual Sportscreen in my garage that works very well. It is holding the original Sportscreen material, plus my old Supertex screen velcroed to the Sportscreen plus my new direct from the mill screen velcroed to it. It takes about 20 seconds to roll up and down manually. I didn't get the motorized version because it was another thing to plug in and there is no convenient power outlet. IMO the Par2Pro Sportscreen is a little bit overpriced but I understand why someone would buy it from them since it's the whole package. I just chose to piece mine together because I'm a DIY guy. I use tarp clips and a bungee cord at the very bottom of the impact screen to attach to the walls of the garage. I have blackout curtains from Amazon hanging from EMT on both sides of my screen, but they are nearly always folded over the EMT and not dropped down for use. I don't need them because I hit from 8.5 ft into a 16 foot wide screen. My next project is to rig up some sort of protection for the actual Sportscreen roller. Every now and then I open up the face on a wedge and hit it with a ball. But not enough to really worry about.
