  • Carl’s Enclosure kits

Anyone do one of these enclosure kits in the 5’ depth? https://www.carlofet.com/golf-simula...ct-screen.html

It seems like an easy and frankly cost effective way to get a low maintenance out of the box solution that has all the finishings, weighted bottom, bungee covers, etc.

Pricing components out didn’t make me feel like there were potential savings to be had. Thoughts or experiences with these kits (minus views on the screens, though thoughts welcomed). Thx.

I have been looking at this as well. Trying to fix up my golf room. The price seems to be the best.

I agree from what I’ve been looking at. I see a lot of talk here about the standard, preferred, and premium screens but there is maybe a review or two re: the enclosure kit from what I can tell. It looks nicely finished at a cheaper DIY price point.

Anyway, I ordered it and will look to share some early thoughts when set up. 10.5x8x5 with preferred screen.

Just bought the 12'x9'x5' from Carl's. Haven't finished setting it up (will post pics when it's done) but everything in the box looks great and certainly no regrets based on what I've seen so far.

StuartG any progress so far? This is the same size I am looking at currently. Just not sure about not being able to retract the sides.

The basic enclosure is up, very happy. Just been working on other aspects of the room and haven't got a chance to get pictures of the finished enclosure to post. The 5' depth version of the enclosure isn't enough 'shank' protection for me - so I've got a little more work to do before I go too far - but I knew that going into the purchase. The 10' depth enclosure would have been nice but wouldn't work in my room as I need it a lot higher at the 10' distance than I do at the screen (due to a quasi vaulted ceiling).

        Looking forward to the reviews

I have been looking at this set up also. Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on placing a second net behind the hitting screen for added protection?

Considering I have a large picture window right behind where the screen will be - Definitely! I bought the enclosure with the std quality screen - which is very similar (if not the same) as the PR20 archery netting. The plan is to eventually upgrade to a higher quality screen and then use the standard behind it for extra protection. I may even play around with some 1" netting as well. Overkill? probably but better safe than sorry.

Im with you on that! It sounds like we have a similar set up where the enclosure will be.

So I just set up my Carl’s Enclosure Bay with Preferred Screen. 8x10.5x5
              Extremely pleased.
-Item was exceptionally packed and arrived within 7 business days
-Easy to source 1in EMT pipe from HD, electrical dept., however, the plumbing dept will cut the pipes (mine did all the cuts needed and did not charge me)
-Instructions were good, but could be improved a little bit, for example, I actually wrapped the bungees around the pipe to connect the side tarps with the screen, they each needed to be separately connected, distinct pictures would have helped
-Impact screen is very high quality, the sides had attached covers, which fit and work exceptionally well, the corners can be tricky to tuck, with the side velcros but nothing serious, just a perfectionist thing.
-Easy to set up the frame and pipes on your own, only advice is to build it standing up, I initially built it frame laying down but couldn’t get enough clearance to stand it.
-side tarps are well made, strong enough to take impacts, the velcro and fittings were perfect, stretches right and secures nicely

I am very happy with the preferred screen, I’ve seen some folks talk about ball dents but not experiencing those, after two rounds the screen seemed to self heal those. I do have a screen weight on the bottom, full length that came with the kit. I also have bungees on all sides, top and bottom.

The bounce back was initially strong, but it adjusted the frame a little bit to loosen the screen slightly, far less of an issue.

I keep the unit about 18in from the wall behind.

I also added a 10x10 golf net to the frame, secured behind the net Dynamax Sports High Impact Golf Barrier Net, White, 10X10-ft https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DX3MCMA..._xNqtCbV08GNH5
I did this for safety reasons just in case I ever blow a hole.

Happy with the picture, I don’t use a great projector, using the Optoma W305GT Which was sourced basically new on eBay for $200. I don’t need anything crazy for E6. The screen shots you see are a demo of Fitness Golf.

              Any questions, let me know.

Hi there, I am curious in what projector that you have and how far are you putting it from your screen. I just put up my screen enclosure yesterday and it is the same size as yours, my screen was getting cut off at the top from the depth. Any help or suggestions would be awesome. Thank you!

Thx! Its turning into a passion.

I just ordered a 4x5 Fiberbuilt station and changed out the projector ceiling mount for one that fits better. I want to raise the floor a bit 3/4 to 1 in around the new Fiberbuilt when it comes. I’ll update the pic when it comes.

If anyone has their recent pics or ideas, pls share!!!

How far away from the enclosure are you hitting from? With my current set up, I have to be around 5-6 from the net return to insure I don't sky a ball into my ceiling Which has happened a few time to many already

Did you do a cost comparison of buying the Carl's enclosure kit vs. buying the parts yourself (say from tarps.com)? What made you go with the Carl's kit?
