  • Convertible or portable garage solutions? Protee/GC2/?

I've been thinking about setting up a simulator in my garage space for a little while now and was pretty set on the GC2 unit until I stumbled upon Protee (partly/mostly due to TGC/software). The protee system seems to have some pros and cons to a GC2, cost/lighting/etc but I wanted to ask you guys about options of "portability". The garage is in use so the flooring and screen/nets would need to be removable. The screen doesn't seem to matter which system I go with, but for the flooring it seems like it would be less simple to move a protee system out of the way on demand. The lights and cameras could be mounted of course, but the putting and hitting sensors would either need to pop out and the floor be covered, or likely removed as well (or build a platform that is moved).

With that said, is this feasible and useable? I realize it could probably be done, but if it's entirely inconvenient and more trouble than it's worth then I can go back to a GC2 (or even Skytrak, depending on feedback/future) as the LM. Anyone else out there in the convertible configuration? If going the GC2 route I believe there's a way to get ProTee software to work (TGC?) instead of going with FSX/FS Performance? Just trying to figure out what my real options are. thanks!

I believe there are a few people that have something set up with Protee in their garage where they have a platform that they move out of the way when not in use. These solutions usually have the platform with ropes and pulleys I believe and everything just gets lifted up,to the wall. I remember seeing a YouTube video on this and suspect you can search for it there. Also, I think if you search this forum you will find at least two users who have a similar set up and have posted comments. As for the ability to use Protee software with CG2, there are also users here with CG2s that are doing the same the as well as using TGC sim software as well. I would recommend reading all of the comments on this Forum on the topic to ensure that you are fully informed.

    Good luck!

Here are some links to other ProTee user's removable garage setups:

Heres pics of my garage set up takes 5 minutes to set up and tear down and I can still park 2 sedans in it.

Has dust become an issue at all? Wasn't sure about the car traffic/parking/etc causing any issues to the sensors. I realize you could cover them but it appears the top is the only part that's vulnerable to sediment.

Looks great though. Unfortunately i think the best bet for me is front/back and not to the side, so the screen will need to pull up/away as well.

No problem with dust after 2 years. I cover everything in the spring /summer when not in use. My set up is front to back of garage, not side to side.

oh good point, i can see that from the pics now I missed that (duh). Definitely helps my planning. Unfortunately i have a door on the closed side, so the alternative is hitting out the door side (which would need to be down for swing clearance. I'd much prefer facing the direction yours does. I guess I'll try and figure out a way to make it work (and move all the junk in my garage up/out of the way).
