  • Question about screen height

I am going to order a custom sized screen from Carl's. I am not using an EMT frame but am going to hang the screen using tension cable.

Here's my question. How tall should I make the screen? I have read that it makes sense to make the screen a little taller than I will hang it, so that it hits the floor and curves back towards the hitting area to assist in ball return. But how many inches should I allow for that?

I have 9 foot ceiling in my garage and have a 10 foot height impact screen that I hang with EMT. The excess is helpful in collecting the balls and directing them back towards me. Some people prefer minimal excess because of the aesthetics. Good luck!

Thanks. Would you say 1 foot of excess is a really good amount? Or if you did it over, would you go for more or less excess?

Also, what kind of screen do you have? Is it finished and grommeted on the bottom?

I have a Carl's standard screen that is finished and grommeted on all sides. It's a good amount maybe a little more than needed but it doesn't cause me any problems.
