Enclosure for Screen That Will Also Be Used for Watching Sports

Hello,

I'm thinking of getting an enclosure kit from Carl's with 10' depth (example shown here: https://www.carlofet.com/images/golf...10x10-hero.jpg).

Since I plan on using the screen to also watch sports, I'm planning on 16:9, probably 7.7 x 13 or maybe a bit larger since I have close to 9' of ceiling height.

Based on my past setup, I'm pretty sure I'll need the 10' side panels to catch stray balls. My concern is that the side panels will block the view from the side when I have people over to watch sports.

Can anyone confirm or deny if the side panels get in the way? And if they do, does anyone have any recommendations for a setup that wouldn't have this problem (i.e. side panels that angle out, or the ability to pull the side panel material back towards the screen like curtains)?

IMO, you will be sitting so far back on a 13' screen the side panels won't come into play unless you are having a mega party.

I have a very similar setup to what you describe, except I went with 5 feet deep instead of 10. I thought the 10 would really obscure TV viewing angles and make it feel like the setup takes up a much larger chunk of the room. With a tee area 10 feet from the screen, I have had plenty of folks hitting, have never had a shank so bad the 5 foot couldn’t catch it. I originally considered hanging retractible net on a curtain rod for an additional 5 feet on each side, but haven’t needed to yet.
