I ordered some high quality impact screen material from Par2Pro (SQ-RAW) and need some advice on the best way to install it. My wife is an interior designer so we have access to her workroom and they can essentially cut and sew the fabric in any manner. I am thinking of doing the following:
1- Max opening size is 12'-2" wide x 8'-10" tall (I have 11'-0" at the hitting mat and the screen sits under a soffit that measures about 48" deep)
2- I have a 16:10 screen coming
3- If we use 12" of the width for connection purposes, the projection could be 134" x 84"+/- (22" of dead space). If we stretch it full width the measurements would be 144" x 91"+/- (15" of dead space)
4- In either case, we plan to push the dead space up and have the image start at the floor
5- I was planning to mount 2x4s to the wall for the ceiling and the side walls (we could also use electrical angle with slots)
6- I was planning to have seamstress sew continuous hems along all four sides to allow us to insert a continuous 1/8" x 1" aluminum bar
7- I was planning to screw through the face of the bar into the 2x4 and stretch impact screen tight across opening
8- Screen is for golf only and even though projector and screen quality are high resolution
9- There is 12" of space behind the impact screen
My question is simple. Will the impact screen being "too tight" create a trampoline effect and should we consider the more traditional bungee suspended systems? I have read that the screen we ordered has limited bounce back but I have also read that we should "test" the screen with various clubs to gauge the bounce and adjust tension accordingly.
