For Those Using Memory Foam Backing - Is there an ideal impact size?

I am in the planning process and material gathering. I would like to use memory foam for absorption and noise reduction behind the impact screen. The screen size will be 9' x 15' roughly.

Do I cover the entire area or is there a suggested impact size you recommend? Also, what is the ideal depth of foam? 2"? 3"? or more?

The screen will sit 10" in front of the foam. I am also using secondary impact layer and then netting. Would the foam be overkill?

I went 3” foam, archery net, screen. The total depth is 8”, with empty airspace only between the foam and netting—foam against wall, space, netting and screen touching. Works great

I used a king size foam topper, hung it so the the right bottom corner matched up with screen, and let the rest fill naturally. However, my screen is only 10x10, and only right-handed players.
