  • 5ft vs 10ft enclosure depth?

Strongly considering a DIY custom enclosure/screen setup but would like to hear pros and cons from anyone that has used these.

I assume the benefit of the 10ft depth would be to block out more light and catch shanked shots but is there a concern with a ceiling mounted projector picture filling up the full height of the screen?

Also consider - My space has some windows (see attached drawing) that I wouldn't mind blocking out with the enclosure BUT I can also set up some blackout curtains on a track that I can pull out for that purpose if needed.

The biggest consideration will be your projector setup I think. When I put my numbers into the projector central calculator it told me that my 1080darbee would need to be 7 feet 7 inches from the screen and 16 inches above the top of the screen. Obviously that eliminated the 10ft depth for me as I couldn't mount it inside the DIY frame. I went with 5ft and hit from less than 10 feet away.

You could account for that if you really wanted to I guess (extra roof support bar, or just a cutout to the ceiling in the middle), but that's going to be a custom job.

I have a 5 foot deep enclosure also, how tall is your enclosure, I am having a hard time getting my screen to not be cut off at the top due to the top of the enclosure. Any suggestions would help greatly.

Thanks, that is a great point.

What is the ideal ball striking location in relation to the projector? Directly above? Slightly behind?

wiz made his 14ft wide by 93 inches high ceiling limited. 2.5- 3ft deep. Not that deep because it's so wide a hosel rocket will stay inside enclosure. Benqth671 10ft from screen hitting shot 9ft from screen. Projector mounted slightly outside and behind ball.

th671st has a zoom adjustment making filling the screen super ez.
