  • Another Sportscreen question

Should I hang my impact screen so it is longer, at the level or shorter than the Sportscreen lower bar?

  • #2
I have mine level so when the bar of the sportscreen touches the ground that the impact screen touches at the same time. I have seen others where the impact screen is lower than the sportscreen but liked the look of the screen right at the base of the floor better.

If they just slightly touch the ground how do you not get a ball or tee flying under the screen? I struggle with how to make the impact screen look nice just hanging from the Sportscreen. I also don't like keeping that bar in the Sportscreen since if you were to hit it that would give you a unpleasant bounce.

The sportscreen has the heavy bar at the bottom and nothing in the slot through the middle. The impact screen is just touching the mats on the floor. My bounce back is minimal and the impact screen and sportscreen will move back a few inches with hits so there is a bunch of give on it even though it rest on the ground. In the picture you can see it has moved back enough where they are now in more contact with the ground. Wedges do have a tendency to climb the screen and my SW an LW will hit the top netting, top of impact screen and or the dreaded direct impact to the metal roller on the sportscreen. I had a bit of material that was loose in front of the roller that had some foam insulation piping in it to help adsorb this but changed it a bit so to stop the balls from climbing up the screen and getting stuck in the ceiling protection and now the roller is back in play .. so I have a few more design changes needed that are upcoming. As far as hitting the bar at the bottom I have never came close but my wife has hit it once and minus the loud impact the ball surprisingly did not do much but roll back as the sportscreen and impact screen will move slightly with impact. That metal roller at the top however does not give at all and if you hit it the ball is going crazy.

I currently have my impact screen attached directly to the sportscreen with Velcro. I have one of the new Direct from the Mill screens that I will be putting up soon and that one will be direct to the sportscreen roller (hopefully wrapped enough to add the needed protection from the SW and LW) I am also thinking of just attaching the impact screen only to the roller and not using the mesh material from the sportscreen.

        Hope this helps!
