Could it be possible to find a rear projection screen with enough strength (thinking may be a banner for advertising) to play with an almost golf ball ... Has anyone have one ?? I know golf channel has ..

Rear projection material is basically back lit film used in the sign industry. The ones that give the best visual when rear projected are going to be thin film and not able to withstand any impact.
However if you can get the material and make a frame to hold it, you only need to put black golf netting in front of the screen so you would just use real balls anyway. The only fear is if you split your netting and have a ball go through, as it would just go through the back lit film as well and hit whatever is behind your screen, most likely the wall.
The golf channel is doing just that with the netting in front. Banner like material that are used for some back lit signs would not show a very good image on the front side.
If I had room enough behind the screen area I would try this in a second.

Here's an interesting way and cheap way to do it, Like SFR said with a black net at an angle in front it could work (golf channel solution).
When I'll finish the 1st simulator set up, will probably try this for the second one... Got enough space 100' x 32' gymnasium, with a short throw projector (ex: 8 foot away would give 16' x 9' backlit )
