  • New GC2 owner.....Wanted to introduce myself and get some advice if possible.

I'm new to the site but have been lurking for quite some time, waiting to post until I got a chance to start the simulator process. I recently purchased a GC2 and am in the process of getting all the parts/pieces together. Currently the only items remaining is the enclosure build out. I am looking at putting my system in either my garage or in my office. If I can put it in my office, I have pretty much unlimited space. If I have to put it in my garage, I am limited to a 10' ceiling, 13' wide by about 15-20 foot deep. My question is this.......for the office space, what are the optimum measurements for the enclosure to allow for both right and left handed players. If the garage is my only option.....what would you suggest for the measurements I provided, to include screen size. Also, is there a preferred distance from the screen to hit balls with a GC2? Appreciate any help and look forward to any suggestions from the knowledgeable folks on the forum. Take Care.

Mff, welcome to the party! I love my GC2 and I'm sure you' love yours too. More space is better, especially if you plan on playing with more than 1 guest at a time. That said, your garage is enough space to be serviceable. The unlimited office space is preferable. My space is on the smaller and end at 10ft wide by 15ft deep. This works great for lefties and righties as all playable space. When I have the money to upgrade the space I'll use the full width of the room with is 13ft. That'll feel a little better than the minimum 10ft. 15x25+ woul d be good for hitting space plus room in the back for your guests to watch safely out of the way. In the end this all comes down to personal preference.mdo you want a sofa and table in the room of jus bar chairs? That's the type of stuff that will make the difference in what depth you need. I laid out string in different dimensions to get a feel for what worked best. Try that and take a few swings with your driver in the space and see what seems to work best for what you're plans are. If 99% of the time you'll play alone or with only 1 guest, no need for a huge room. If you'll have foursomes plus possible onlookers, you'll definitely want to go big.

The GC2 technically needs less than a foot of distance from the screen to read the ball data. Obviously you need more space than that to take a swing. Again, this is about what feels good to you. My GC2 is 7 ft from the screen. I would probably back it up another foot or 2 at the most if I could. Mine is simply smack in the middle of my space. Go with the office if possible. Not sure of your other considerations, but I know bigger is better. Good luck!

Mff - Say goodbye to your family. Once it's in you're gonna be out there all the time! I have a GC2 as well and continue to say it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. TGC software is a must. I thought I would share pictures of my setup with some dimensions. I have mine on my back patio with what I consider comfortable distance. Biggest challenge with smaller space is getting proper throw distance on projector. I have Epson Powerlite home cinema 2030...works great. Feel free to PM me and we can exchange numbers if you have questions. Good Luck!
