Impact Screen - 6 inches from wall?

I am trying to get my impact screen as close to the wall as possible. I am thinking of doing Carl's premium impact screen. Then maybe archery netting, comforter or memory foam behind. Thoughts??

I think that you could be fine. I have direct from the mill screen relatively loosely hung, with a photographer's screen, memory foam, and moving blankets. It moves about 2 inches on impact.

Can you see your memory foam and moving blankets through your screen? That was a deal breaker for me.

No. You can't see anything behind the screen regardless if the screen is being used or not.

I have mine about 6 inches, maybe slightly less, with nothing behind it and haven't had issues. If you're really concerned about the wall behind (I'm not) then some foam in the impact area should be more than enough extra protection.

Check out BazookaJoes post about hanging 3” memory foam using floor trim and lag bolts. Should be under 6” and stop the ball dead in its tracks.

So I tried the 3-inch memory foam behind my Carl's Premium impact screen, and the ball still jumps back several feet on impact. What am I doing wrong, or should I try something else?

Maybe slacken the tension on the impact screen?
