Crisp and clear picture, cloth over impact screen.

Yes, I'm nearly done... you can see from a few of my posts, I've got the photo backdrop you recommended in front of an 801 (3 layer impact screen). The sound deadening seems fine and the bounceback is minimal with the few shots I've tested it with. In the next 7-10 days I plan on being finished and there will be a lot more balls up.

I have the photobackdrop clipped to the top wire - so directly against the 801 screen, and bungeed on the sides as well. You can also see it's pretty wrinkly at this point - and I have a steamer I bought last week to use to get the wrinkles out - then we'll have a 'real test'. From what I see initially though - the 'whiteness' of the photo backdrop is much more brighter than this 801 impact screen (which is kind of a creamy brownish/white), so the whites are enhanced for sure. When I'm all done with setup, I may pull back 1/2 of the backdrop and you can compare them side by side - but overall I'm very happy, for $35 it's one of the best spends of my project to protect my impact screen, thanks again.

William Jenkins - I still have some stretching and de-wrinkling to do in these pics... but you can see, my $20 photo backdrop does a decent job:



However I am getting quite a few scuff/burn marks on the photo backdrop that can only be seen from the side, here's an example of that:


I will post again when I am finished steaming, stretching my screen/photo backdrop to show you the final outcome, but so far you're right, I'm really liking that this is protecting my Impact Screen - yet still allowing the impact screen to absorb the majority of the impact, I have nearly zero bounceback!

I started hanging my screen today. I am trying to attach it with Velcro all the way around. Right now, I got through one two sides and ran out of Velcro. I am going to steam the screen tomorrow and then I will test hitting some shots before I go and get more Velcro. I want to see if there’s any chance the Velcro alone will hold. If not, I will look at using some clips too. The problem is, my impact screen has flaps that close around the poles so using clips will be difficult.

If this works, I may actually order some different color screens. In particular I am interested in finding some ambient light rejection screens that could fit over the impact screen. I am also hoping if done correctly, this could get rid of the impact marks and make the screen perfectly flat. . .

I don’t believe the white photo cloth game me any better picture than what I had on the regular screen. I am interested in trying this with a gray color to see if it makes the picture better.

Just finished hanging white backdrop cloth. It's a bit wrinkly since I can't apply side tension, but overall ok. No improvement in image quality that I can see, but I have a good impact screen already, so even just not losing quality is a win.

The big advantage to this for me is using it as a sacrificial layer to prevent the main impact screen from getting dirty. My setup is in my garage which regularly has cars parked, so keeping the balls perfectly clean isn't realistic for me. This allows me to save the main (expensive) screen from dirt with a cheap layer that I can just wash or replace whenever it gets dirty or worn down.

Overall, very happy with it, thanks for the idea!

Alos dropped mine right in front and found that both the image as well as the sound was improved. It's more of a muffled sound than before, if that helps.
