Sliding or curtain-style screen

I will be installing my screen (backed by a net) on my covered porch. It will be approximately 16 by 9. My problem is that my wife does not want the screen there permanently since it will block our view of our pasture. My plan is to mount a galvanized pipe (or similar) to serve as a heavy duty "curtain rod" which will allow me to pull the screen and net to the side of the house when not being used for the sim. Does anyone have any experience with such a setup? When not in use, the screen and net will be bunched up (similar to an open curtain) and gathered with a Velcro strap (or similar). I'm a little worried this might damage the screen with permanent wrinkles. Any opinion? Thanks

I've done something similar in the garage, which had to remain usable to park a car in (we don't do this frequently as its a 1 car garage that's small for modern cars).

I bought a 3m length of metal pipe, believe its 23mm outside and 19mm inside. Then I inserted a shelf bracket (90degree, no diagonal support) into each end and fixed into the side walls. I have a post about it on here.

I fixed the screen to the bar with bungees thinking it would be easy to slide across. It isn't, but that could be because I used the smaller bungees in the mixed pack I got for the rail part.

What you could do is use larger bungees, or find some curtain rings (or otherwise small hoops) you could put through the holes on your screen (or fix tarp clamps to).

I wouldn't worry about permanent screen creases either. Provided you can at least add tension to each side, you'll be able to make it relatively smooth. I say this because I bought Carl's preferred screen folded in box. That had creases, but they've already been "stretched" out.

Thanks very much for the reply. I was worried about how the bungees would slide. I think I'm going to go with metal rings (hoops) and then tarp clamps. I might actually install two of the metal pipe rods - one for the backup net and one for the screen. I think the two pieces would slide easier and gives me the option of just using the net if I want to. Thanks again!
