  • Black Vokey wedges and impact screen?

    Hello,

My new wedges came in yesterday, SM8's in black. My intention is to eventually strip the black paint and leave them raw. I just got to thinking- should I do that sooner rather than later to reduce the risk of the paint coming off on a ball and getting deposited on my screen?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Not sure about anyone else but I've never had that happen with my vokey's. The paint doesn't really chip off or transfer to the ball, it more or less seems to just wear down over time. The paint from the golf ball (especially balls with graphics) has more of a chance to show on the screen over an extended period of time. Curious if you ordered new black wedges and want to strip them to raw, couldn't you have just ordered the raw initially and have been done with it. That being said, I don't see a reason to be concerned with the black wedges from my previous experience but I also don't hit 1,000 balls a week in my sim.

The treatment vokey uses does not rub off on ball. I am curios as well why you ordered black wedge and want to strip it?

If it's the limited edition ones they have black grips and a black shaft as well. Very cool look.

No experience on the vokeys, but i made my kid stop using his Mack Daddy Tactical Wedges because the paint was transferring to the ball and onto the screen.

Because I like raw, but you have to pay extra for raw, which I have a problem with (why the heck would you charge more for giving less?) The other finishes are plated on, they aren't easily removed. Black strips easy, and you end up with raw.

Furthermore, I actually like the black. But it wears off. So, when it doesn't look good any more, I'll strip them.

                Thanks all!
