  • Carpet for EMT Cover or something else?

    Hi all - putting an 8.5 x 13 screen in garage. Bought the Carl's fitting and plan to use the dimensions of their DIY kit of the same size for mine. Ball bungee screen. Bought a heavy duty black tarp to wrap around the entire body, likely hold on with a few clamps on eat on back and bungee to front without making too tight. My question is - I will inevitably have some emt pipe exposed - what should I use to cover it. Done some research and am considering;
    1. Perhaps most unique - thought of spray painting black some dark blue fairly thick carpet and zip tying around front bars at the least
    2. Pool noodles? https://foamnoodles.com/collections/...ks-made-in-usa
    3. Basic EMT pipe insulation - seems common but also ready very dangerous.
    4. Plan to cover back corners maybe with Velcro tape and cut strips of those black foam 2 X 2 soft floor tiles.
    5. Some combination thereof?

    Standing 10-12 feet from screen.

    Also any suggestions to protect the projector from bounceback too?

    Thanks everyone. Will keep posted about my build.

    How is emt insulation dangerous?

      I am also trying to build my first golf simulator. I saw this setup from amazon. The screen and fittings are included in the setup, which is good. I don't have to source it separately. Will post some pictures when completed.

        I have read on a few threads that the balls can still rocket back pretty dangerously. Seems some people use it though. Not sure what to believe? Haha

          Oh it's doable! Haha my bigger concern is the bar at front of frame at just under 9 ft high/the road, and the middle bar that run between the two top approx 14 feet of horizontal bars. My enclosure will only be 1-2ft deep due to size contraints. Good to hear no problem with the basic 1" pipe insulation. I was my original plan but some threads have made me give pause and reconsider.

          Quite doable when talking about the top and bottom bars. I've hit a worm burner that came back at me at about 120mph. I've also hit wedge shots that hit the top bar perfectly, and shot directly back at me and hit my Mevo+ LM. I'm not concerned about the side EMT, but definitely had to resolve the top and bottom bars.
