I am 5'7" and could swing a driver with a 9' ceiling with 6 to 7 inch clearance. Luckily, my ceiling is 9'6" and I will make my swing bay ceiling almost touching it for my taller friends.

You can always move the opener off-center. Works fine.

In my case there's still not enough room . I understand others have the option, just not for me.

Interesting I may have to look into this. I don't need it all the way to the side but when a few more feet would help

I found a Chamberlain Wall Mount at Menards for around 300 a few months back. The only tricky part during the whole process of taking down the old one, (returning it luckily, long story) and putting up the new one was installing the tension monitor. My wall behind the garage door was not ideal so I had to use a few blocks of wood to bring the wall out a touch. Just took some patient measuring.

However, being able to swing without fear in there is clutch. If anyone needs help DM me and I can give you some feedback on what you would expect.

I looked into moving the garage door opener offset a few feet but ultimately it couldn’t work so I went with the Wall Mount. It is so quiet, I can’t even tell if the door is opening/closing as our kitchen is on top of the garage. With the old chain drive the floor would vibrate like crazy, no sneaking from the garage.
