Has anyone ever tried installing a screen at a very slight downward angle to avoid using a very slight keystone adjustment when I tip my projector backwards to make up for its vertical offset (such as 5 degrees). I'll be using angle iron into my walls so setting the screen on this angle would be easy. I'm 99% sure this would work just fine. Would appreciate a confirmation of real world experience or explanation of issues I'm not seeing.

Agreed that a proper projector is the answer. But short of spending 5x more for something with a lens shift or interchangeable lenses there isn't a projector that works for me unless I (a) drastically reduce my screen size or (b) live with shadows. This is the consequence of a short room with a low ceiling. Furthest back I can stand is 7ft and my ceilings to hitting surface is about 8'9".
Thanks for raising the point about the bottom of the screen. You are probably correct that in order to have enough tension in the screen to keep it flat while on an angle, I would probably increase bounce back and reduce the life of my screen.
Unless I hear of someone else's good experiences with this tilted screen method then I will build out as normal (I start in a few days) and see if I can put up with the keystone degredation.
Also would be happy to hear of a projector with 0.5 throw ratio and less of a vertical offset than the OptomaGT1080HDR

Although the bottom of my screen is hanging free, the top and sides are both attached to the wall using bungees connecting to 90 degree angle iron. If you use the same method, you could mount the angle iron at the 5 degree offset and I see no reason it would not work. It may be a little odd, as mine (and most people's) screen uses a combination of gravity and 90 degree mounts to keep it flat and straight, but it would be worth trying to see if it solves your problem. If it doesn't, it's a relatively small job to un-mount the screen, re-mount the angle iron vertically and re-attached the screen. I agree with 3on3 that a better projector would be a better solution, but in the absence of that, this might be worth a try. No extra hardware cost to try it, just some time

Thanks for the encouragement GoldenSim . You're right, I'll just give it a try before continuing on with extra's like padding etc.
BTW, I've seen your build post. Thats a beauty setup you've got in a beautiful spot. Wishing I was skiing Kicking Horse this year. We usually take a week to do Revelstoke and Golden but not this year...

Thanks for the kind words GolfLikeItsaPandemic - yep, I'm lucky to live in a beautiful spot. We're not skiing at KHMR either this year - just backcountry and some sim time! Hopefully next winter you can get back here! Good luck with the build
