Issues with 3:4 vs 4:3? Limited width screen.

Going into next phases of my garage golf sim. Want to get rid of 8ft wide hitting net and get a Carl's Place screen. Dilemma is dimensions and projector image.
My garage/room area is 11 feet wide, 11feet tall (depth not a concern). I must get behind the screen (storage back there) so need 2-3 feet on one side to get around the screen. Carl's smallest 4:3 screen is 7.7ft, and with homemade frame just over 8ft wide. And if I go that width, the height is 10ft (Screen is 7.7ft wide X 10ft tall). Not a problem but now with next phases (projector) I have the 4:3 screen rotated to be an actual 3:4 projector screen.
Am I shooting myself in the foot here? Or just concede that with this placed screen I'll have known black space from a projector image not fitting/stretching to full fit?

You're saying the enclosure is already built and is 8 feet wide? If that's the case then you're a bit limited. The height of the screen won't really matter because you won't have a very tall image anyway with such a narrow width.

If the enclosure is not yet built, I would recommend just using the full width of the room. I also have things stored behind the screen and if I need to get back there I just unhook a few tarp clips from the screen and squeeze past. I made sure to only store stuff back there that I don't need very often (christmas decorations, camping gear) so I can limit the amount of times I do it. But unhooking a few tarp clips and then hooking them back on again is no big deal. If you went with an enclosure 11 wide (or just attached the screen to the wall) you could do a 10 foot wide screen with a 4:3 image size of 10x7.5. (And carls is far from your only screen option.)

With a screen of only 7.7 wide, your image will only be about 5.5 feet high in 4:3. The wide you can make the screen, the taller you can make the image without having to stretch it or do anything that will affect the quality.

I build a sim in my garage and wanted to limit it to one stall. My height was also limited to 9'4". I ended up building a cage 10' wide and 8'6" tall. I use a 4:3 image. Yes, there is a bit of unlit space at top of screen. With black out curtains and reduced ambient light, its not noticeable and still useful to deflect higher shots. I bought a square screen and plan to rotate it 4 times as it shows wear.

Thanks for suggestions. I have NOT built it yet. At present I have a net/impact target that is on a pulley system that I can rise. Came in handy when we had near tornado winds and I needed to put all vehicles in the garage, and lifting this net allows me to fit another car.

I have received many suggestions about maximizing the space and just going around or unhooking parts of the screen.
I have a fridge/freezer back there (beer source), the heater mounted (can be moved), etc. I'd rather keep the screen taut, (tight)... and with 10ft, I "could" get around (only a foot to spare) but if I can get a 7.7ft screen I'd be satisfied with that (2.5 feet to get around. .and sacrificing the projector image is something I'm willing to concede.
Just wanted the range of opinions and I'm getting them. So thx!
