  • Setting up new hitting screen!

Greetings and thank you for all the input I am about to receive! So much information here on this forum.

I am now hitting into a Net Return Pro Series With the Simulator screen and cover. It has served me good but want to upgrade to wider screen. I have ordered the fittings to set up with the 1" conduit and that should be arriving this week. I'm going for 9' H X 9 or possibly up 12' wide. hope to get that finalized here with some input. The enclosure will be between 3 to 5' in depth, again to be determined. Will leave about 1' from garage door to screens, I wan not intending upon putting any mattress or anything behind.

My original intent was to get a Carl's premium screen, but with a post in the enclosure screen, there was some talk about this Photo Screen over the top of the hitting screen, making the picture very good! If that is the case would you downgrade to the less expensive Carl's screen and then use this photo screen, or would you still just get the best Carl's screen and use the photo screen over the top? Opinions please!

The next thing is from what i have gathered is I should have something behind the hitting screen to absorb the impact. I have heard of this archery screen right behind the impact screen, or I have heard of netting behind the impact screen. plus and minus of each of these and your suggestions.

My intentions were the Photo Screen, impact screen and then either archery net or regular net, and have all of them basically right next to one another. Does this sound good? or should I plan on leaving some space between the hitting screen and the back net or screen? Plan on using bungee with ball straps to attach to frame. Also using some sort of foam block cut on angle along the bottom to prevent ricochet off bottom frame rail. Not quite sure if some sort of protection is going to be required on the vertical risers for the enclosure, since this will be considerably wider than my existing set up. also input on this.

Again thanks for all the input I am about to receive! This forum has been great for all the information I have received! Hope someday i will also be able to provide some information to others!
    Dave.

Carls screens are on the pricier side of average. So if I were to use the photo cloth method I wouldn't bother with a more expensive screen. I would just get a supertex or something similar. No sense in buying an expensive screen if you're just going to cover it up anyway.

As far as the size, I'd go 12x9 if you can. Much better than having a square screen for projector and image purposes.

If you do go with a Carl's screen, they recommend nothing behind it. Bounce back is a function of tension.
