I’ve asked several questions as I have been SLOWLY building out the sim, so I thought I’d share what I did here. Here are a few thoughts:
1. I used Carl’s DIY sim enclosure, 10 feet wide, 8.5 feet high, 5 feet deep, and I would highly recommend it. I bought the EMT pipes locally and cut the lengths with a Sawzall. This was actually pretty easy to do.
2. I put 4 panels of black out curtains behind the screen and then put a pretty cheap net behind the curtain panels. I had it reversed with the net behind the screen first, but I could see the netting behind the screen so I switched it out and now you cannot see the net.
3. Used a BenQTH671T short throw projector with a universal projector mount, that all was pretty easy to set up and get going as well.
4. I puta 25 HDMI cord and 30 foot extension cord attached to the ceiling with a two cord hider kits just to keep the look a little clean
5. Already had the Fiberbuilt station, and put a rubber tee at grass height in the tee hole, so I can put a regular tee in there, but it’s easy to take out for iron shots.
6. Instead of side netting, I bought a cheap 24x24 inch chipping net that I am using as a “shank board”. Hopefully won’t need it with the 5 foot depth of the enclosure, but just gives me a little more comfort. That’s a really cheap way to do it, but seems like it will work fine.
7. I am using a Flightscope Mevo Plus, but just with my IPad Pro. I figure I can upgrade to a gaming PC in the future if I want to, but the Ipad works well with the virtual driving ranges and the free courses from E6 Connect.
8. I put a strip of artificial grass in the sim enclosure just to give it a little better look, but more importantly, catch the golf balls after impact.
