  • 24/7 Enclosure First Impression / review — set-up to completion

I recently upgraded from a net/TV to one of these 24/7 10x8.5 x5 enclosures and here is what I found:
    • Arrives in 2 boxes. Delivered in about 4-5 days and apparently shipping from Ohio (this is a USA Order)
    • Assembly: Instructions where not included in the box and you have to download them
    • Huh? They changed the pipe design so the kit comes with a few less pipes. However, they did not update the assemble directions, “what is in the box’, or even notify the user the design was changed.
    • Because of this I thought I was missing parts and had to call support before I got in to putting it together and then had to figuring out the changes.
    • The pipes snap together and are pretty similar to the black NetReturn pipes.
    • Putting the one-piece enclosure/screen on was a little tricky. Getting the orientation right slowed it down a little bit. I think this could have been solved with a few labels on the kit ( top right back, top left back, etc…) Especially since one of the selling points is ease.
    After assembly,
    • Enclosure looks good, it was great not having to cut pipes, Bounce back is a non issue, and the screen being offset is nice. Assembly could have been easier with a few simple refinement as noted above. This is a 1600 product and details matter.
    Cons…
    • Screen: not sure it is as high quality as Carl’s Premium. I was told that it was but it seems the weave could be tighter and picture crisper. Would appreciate other’s thoughts on this.
    • The Screen also has a ripple at the bottom 1/2 like if you threw a stone in water. I tightened as much as possible and waiting for support to advise. I have to say, that I am not happy about this at all. Yes it helps bounce back but it hurts the image quality. I am really hoping they can solve this. TBD
    • Generally I think this industry could be much better at serving the customer with information after sale. Mostly with better documentation like Crutchfeild does when you buy audio stuff from them. Things like recommended projectors or link to the projector tools, best recommended resolution settings for the size screen you just bought for a full screen experience or other. Maybe general guides for setting up a DYI sim with wiring ideas, options etc…) Creating quality documentation and proactive guidance to the user for best possible experience with a product goes a long way. Last thing I want to do when trying to set up something I just bought is search google for details that could have been provided.
    • Overall, i think this should be a good upgrade from the NetReturn. I’m not sure if this was a better move than the carls system but no looking back now. It works, no blankets or hacks needed to adjust bungies or anything. I am hoping that support will reply in a timely manner and can offer tricks to get that ripple out.

Hope that helps. More to come when I hear from support.

I have the Carl's DIY with premium screen, I did originally order the 24/7, but it wouldnt work in my space... While cutting and sourcing EMT with carls is more work, it is a much sturdier design than 24/7 included pipe. The whole unit looks awesome and I was able to build exactly what I needed dimensions wise and with the added pipe padding and side safety nets, it was still less than the 24/7. I do really like their tension adjuster and though!

Did you ever get the support you needed from 24/7 on the sag of the screen? I literally emailed them today about the same thing.

also which projector are you using and did you find a good resolution to work with that size? Your point on your email are very reasonable to expect better support from manufacturers. I fond the assembly was guess work that could have been done in a fraction of the time with proper instructions.

BUYER BEWARE. This screen is poor quality and you cannot tighten it enough to get the large ripples out. The excessive ripples distorts the image and after every hit it dimples more than any screen I have ever seen.

After contacting topshelfgolf.com, they said “sorry we can’t do anything. You have to contact the manufacturer.”

Then the manufacturer 24/7 Said. “Appreciate you're not satisfied. We will not be offering you a return under the circumstances… The product is as advertised”.

Another words. No they did NOT resolve this and will NOT resolve it. They do not stand behind their product so buyer beware. If you want a product that has a great design but poor, inferior screen with big ripples that you cannot get out, and that you have to flatten by hand after every shot. Go for it. But I would definitely not recommend this product.

Just seen your post Markl. Wish I'd seen it earlier. I'm having the same issues with my screen. I've pretty much tightened it up as much as I can but the ripples remain. I'll be ringing the manufacturer soon myself. I'm still having issues getting the right resolution and aspect ratio.

Good luck… they have a few hacks that did little and then basically said sorry, that’s how it is… too bad for you. Not returnable. I Will never buy or recommend anything from them. Very poor experience with their product and I know I’m not the only one.

To be fair, the pictures clearly show wrinkles/waves and sags at the bottom, and they state as such in the product description. I would have never bought that just based on the pics as it’s clearly shown

                  Editing a comment
Watch the corporate video of them setting it up. Right at the end the guy tightens the straps and walks around front and the screen is flawless. Both video are like this. Obviously edited. Then on the site it said the screen is triple layer. It’s not and now says dual layer. The screen weight is closest to the other companies basic screen. The sales person I spoke to that said it that the screen was best of class and used in commercial settings. Compared to samples I got from other companies, it is simply faults.

Obviously their video has been altered.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I just purchased the 13x10x5.5 enclosue and same thing it arrived with only 4 of the short pipes labeled 3A and there are supposed to be 8. But I have extra's of the longer ones. Markl - any chance you could share what pieces you were missing/what the "new" way of assembly is?

                  Thanks!
