I am new to the forum and to golf simulators. I am starting to sketch out an enclosure and would like some feedback. It is a curved screen design with a 2x4 frame. My current plan is to use schedule 80 pvc for the upper and lower screen pocket supports that are held onto the 2x4s with band clamps. In the past, I have used a propane torch to bend pvc pipes. You cool it with water and the pipe remains rigid in the new shape. The screen sides will have tarp clamps with bungie cords. Question:
- Is the screen curvature about right – 13’ radius? Is there too much curvature? I would like to use a single projector with warping capability. I read somewhere that you should not go beyond 23 feet wide if you are using a single projector (current design width is 20 feet).
- Is there anything wrong with a 2x4 frame? I see a lot of 1 inch EMT tubing in the designs, but wood is much less expensive and is easier to work with - at least for me.
- If I want a ball return floor, what pitch do I need to make the floor (or please point me to an article. Thanks)?
- At a macro level, does this enclosure make sense or do I have a major faux pas in the design?
