  • Frame height in a 10 foot ceiling garage

I have 10 foot ceiling in my garage and I was originally going to max out the frame all the way to the ceiling.

When I started to think about the cloth that goes around the frame and protecting the ceiling, I realized I might need to go a little lower. My width will be 11 feet so with 4:3 ratio or even a custom ratio I probably wouldn't be using the full 10 feet anyways. How much space should I leave between the ceiling and the frame?

    Thank you in advance

I would leave 12" of space. 9' x 11'0 would be good. My Enclosure is 8'6 high x 10'0 wide.

Is your frame going to have a ceiling or just a top bar? What distance are you planning for ball position from the screen? Further you get, more likely wedge can hit ceiling. Closer you get, less you need top and side protection but more concentrated wear on screen. If frame has a ceiling, that is what requires some space similar to having a gap on the back wall. Ceiling height/depth of frame can come in to play depending on launch monitor and projector positioning. I think most cases would be fine with 10' room height and 9' frame ceiling height.

The height required is going to be a bit different for everyone. The further away from the screen you are the more distance the ball has to rise. I think most people are 8-10 feet away. I have a screen height just over 8 feet. I hit the ball high so to play full shot wedges and flop shots I had to put in ceiling protection.

What ceiling protection did you do? I'm trying to achieve 13ft ball to screen for Mevo+ indoor mode, but am concerned about wedges/flop shots.

Just got done doing mine and one thing to keep in mind is how do you plan on covering the area between the screen and your frame. The larger the gap obviously creates a larger area to cover. I bought bumpers specifically to cover this area and couldn’t go the regular size as I had too much to cover. I went with the XL size which, you guessed it, cost more.
