  • Retractable Screen securing the bottom

For those that are running retractable screens, how are you guys securing the bottom of the screen?

Mine is floating. GungHoGolf will hem a pocket and the bottom and I used piece of EMT to slide in the pocket to give the screen some weight at the bottom.

No, I used a foam wedge block to hide the bottom pipe. I simply put the foam in front of the screen and it protects the pipe from impacts. It's listed on GungHo's website and available for purchase from Home Depot.

Also, I would recommend leaving it outside for about a week to get the chemical odor off of it before using it indoors. I think they spray something on the foam to keep it from rotting in the weather.

Did your screen have any creases in it from just hanging there, or did the weight bar take care of that?

No it straightened out in a day. Even without the weight it should straighten out. You can use light steam just don’t stick an iron on it.

go to gunghogolf.com and look how they used a covered wire shelf. I did this in garage setup to cover the bottom of the screen (and the EMT in the pocket) and it works great...

Do you have a video of the bounce back, or is it pretty minimal with the gung ho screen?

I think bounce back has more to do with how tight the screen is and if you have something behind it like a mattress or foam. My retractable screen floats and does not really have any bounce back.

Hello, I know I am a little late to this thread but had a question that I am hoping someone can answer. I too have a gung-ho retractable screen. I have just the thin piece of metal that came with the screen in the bottom pocket with the 4 metal clamps they gave. The clamps are not staying on but the bigger problem is the screen constantly flips up over my wire rack in front of it. The tee or ball also will get caught under the screen or behind it. Can anyone tell me if this still happens with the emt pipe in the bottom? I would imagine it would be heavier and would maybe keep it more taught and not flip up but was just curious. Also, what size emt pipe did you guys use? Thanks!

I bought the longest closet maid wire shelf from HD that I put in front of the pipe and landing turf carpet on top to hide. It actually helps the roll infront me after hitting
