I have been lurking on the forum for a while now, and have just about read every post written. I have been wanting a simulator for years, and finally decided to pull the trigger. I purchased an optishot to run on my Mac, and when reading in the forums here about TGC I realized that I had to have something else. When I saw the courses Craig118 designed I sent the optishot back. Because of the price and since it's my first step in to simulators I picked up a Personal Pro with TGC.
I'm building a computer to these specs:
Intel i7 Processor 4790
Gtx 780 ti graphics card
8GB ram
850-1000w power supply
128gb ssd drive
I feel like after reading the discussion of computer requirements this should give me pretty good performance.
My biggest question is about hitting bay, projector, and screen.
I have a garage space that is 10'6" tall, 13' wide, and 17' long. I am building 2 non bearing walls to close in this space from the other areas of garage. I'm wanting to put carpet on walls, ceiling, and finish floor out with artificial turf. I will only be having right handed players playing, so it'll be set up for that only I think. The projector I have is a BenQ MS616ST, I thought it may be ok to use, but after reading comments from some of the guys, I'm wondering if it would be better to get a better one.
The screen I'm looking at is the HQ2 Raw from Par2Pro. I'm thinking that it would be best to get a 12x10 and hem it down to fit inside of my build out area. I am wondering where my best place to put hitting mat, screen and projector. If I get a new projector, I'll only have at most 16 feet for throw distance. I'm trying to keep everything as inexpensive as possible, my wife hasn't asked how much it's all going to be, and if I can keep her from missing any of the money I'm spending, it'll be best for both of us.
Any ideas or help would be so appreciated. I'm open to any ideas, and will begin the build out this week.
