HI everyone. My name is Mike and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I have been lurking on the forums for a few days now and reading up on how people are setting up their simulators. There is a lot of good knowledge on here.
I recently had a garage built and have it insulated and am in the process of getting the remainder of the interior done (vapor barrier, insulating the attic and drywalling). The size of the garage is 24x22 and the usable space is more like 23x21. It has a 10 foot high ceiling and in-floor heating so I can use it during our brutal winters. I plan on parking on the one side and having the simulator on the other side as well as possibly a workshop area but will have to see how the simulator build goes first before I fully decide on that. I used central vac tubing up through the attic to run cables when the time comes and to be able to make changes to the cabling a lot easier. The attic will be pretty tough to move around in to make changes once it's all done so I think this was a good idea. There is a door on the wall I want to have the screen so that has impacted my options below.
One requirement for my simulator is that I wanted to be able to hit golf balls while my truck was still in the garage. I don't want to have to move it outside every time I want to hit balls. I'm a lefty so I don't think this will be a problem.
I have come up with 2 build options and was hoping I could get advice from you guys before I get too far gone. I've already bought a Mevo Plus so that I can have both lefties and righties play. I am planning on using curtains for any shanks and 1" foam for the base of the hitting area and then getting some sort of turf to go over that. I would make the main hitting area and side areas so that they could be moved easily so that they could be placed against the wall when not in use. I understand this will likely be a work in progress going forward and there will be iterations made along the way. I would definitely use the screen to watch sports on as well when I'm not hitting golf balls or have buddies over to watch the game.
Option A : 10.5' wide x 8' high screen (4:3 aspect ratio)
Option B: 16' wide x 9' high screen (16:9 aspect ratio)
Would love to hear what you guys think. Let me know if I've missed anything and I will update this post.
Thank you.

Option A : 10.5' wide x 8' high screen (4:3 aspect ratio)
- problem with this option is that the hitting area wouldn't be at the center of the screen. Since I would like 8 ft between the wall and the hitting area, that means would be hitting quite far to the left side of the screen which isn't ideal.
- I have uploaded 2 pictures of this setup. One how it would be setup most of the time when it's just me hitting (curtain coming straight) and the second for when I have right handed buddies over (curtain at an angle). So would have 2 curtains installed.
- One good thing with this option is that the screen could be permanently mounted as it's not going past the door and would be the cheaper option.
Option B: 16' wide x 9' high screen (16:9 aspect ratio)
- with this option I would need to have the screen be retractable because of the door being in the way which would add to the cost. Would likely get a kit from metechs.com (https://www.metechs.com/store/index....ucts_id=416635) and then add a screen to that. Just not sure on the size of kit I would need for a 16 foot wide screen..likely the 198" option.
- The major pluses with this option though is the much larger screen and balls would be hit at the center of the screen so would feel more immersive I think.
- If it's just me hitting balls though and I want to have the truck in there, would need a 2nd curtain setup at an angle to protect the truck from any shanks. I have uploaded 2 pictures of this setup as well.
