  • Net and impact screen?

Reading through the copious thread on impact screen 101, it appears many people add a net behind the impact screen. Is that still a best practice or are most folks just an impact screen alone these days? Seems like the retail enclosures online just have a screen alone so I was surprised to see quite a few people on the thread mention having a net as well.

Depends on the quality of the screen. If you go with the new cushion /padded screen material you dont need a net or panel behind it . Checkout https://virtual-golf-simulator.com/g...l-choose-size/. Thiis the highest quality screen material on the market

I don't have a net behind my impact screen and I haven't had any issues on it. I think as mentioned above it depends on the quality of the impact screen.

I actually think that the knotting on the netting contributed to the wear on one of my earlier screens. I've since removed it and just used an old screen as a backing, more so to further help deaden the ball on impact.

willwagner - I recently installed my Sim screen without any netting behind. I am 8" from the back wall and have very minimal bounceback. The netting you may be referring to is something used for a baffle, or to drop the ball when it goes up higher than the screen. For that I used Commando Cloth - a huge piece of it (19' x 10') that I grommeted and hung from my collar ties.

          Here is the Command Cloth:
Chicago Canvas & Supply's 16 oz. Black Commando Cloth is an economical fire resistant fabric ideal for masking. Available from 4'6"- 9'10". Order online.

(get the 9'10" double-nap, and about 5 yards to cover a 12' wide x6' deep enclosure area in the ceiling)

The Grommet tool I bought from Amazon:

Here's a pic of how it turned out - before I finished the rest of side padding:
