  • Planning a new build - sim / screen / enclosure questions

I am in the planning stages of a new build. I found a free online DIY sim planning tool and am looking through all the choices to be made. When it comes to the screen / enclosure, I see options that are square (I.e. 8 x 8) and some that are more theater like (I.e. 8 x 12). From a space perspective I can fit either. I am thinking bigger is better. Any reason to go with the square or avoid the wider screen that I am not considering. Price is lower which is a plus, but thinking the wide view would be better.

Also town between the Mevo+ and the Skytrack. Any ideas there would be appreciated.

get me the dimensions of your space and I will get you a quick layout and screen options

you always want to get the largest screen that will fit in the area. most go with a 4:3 ratio or a 16:10. Going square is not that popular.

    if you can fit a 12 x 9 screen thats a perfect 4:3 ratio

How deep did you want the sides/top?

are you going with a ceiling mount projector? which make?

between skytrak and mevo plus you cant go wrong with either one. You need 16-18 ft of depth with the mevo. Plus mevo comes with golf course and skytrak does not.

    thx

Generally best to go as big as you can on screen for visual benefits and since screen is the ideal ball stopper.

I had a 9x15 enclosure for a few years. Just recently downsized to a 9x13. I really don’t notice that much of a difference to tell you the truth.

Will all regular/common projectors handle both 4:3 and 16:9?

It is best to go as tall and wide as you can for your screen and enclosure. You also do not have to worry about sticking with standard aspect ratios if you get a gaming PC with a high quality graphics card. This will allow to customize your aspect ratio without distorting the image. I love the Mevo+, they have an awesome swing training tool which allows you to get club speed without having to hit a golf ball. They also have a really reasonable software upgrade to get club data. I would also recommend getting TGC 2019 with your Mevo+ to get thousands of great courses to play.
