New to the forum and setting up a sim. I've ben reading through the posts and gained a ton of knowledge from everyone's posts/feedback. Had a question that I have not seen previously posted and was hoping someone could provide some insight. I'm looking to purchase a sportscreen and attach an impact screen to it (likely from Gungho). I spoke to Gungho and they stated they could attache velcro to the top any screen which is a great start. However, I called sportscreen and couldn't get a clear answer. From what I understand they have velcro at the top of their screen but that's used to attach the screen to the roller. My question is has anyone attached an impact screen to the sportscreen and if so how? Did you sew in a strip of additional velcro and if so how? I have seen people posting that you can glue a velcro strip but that seems likely to lead to issues in the future. My sim will be in garage and needless to say summers get hot so I wouldn't expect glue to hold up. An additional note about the sportscreen. I have 12 foot ceilings and the screen I am looking at is 10'x10'. They offer an extension at the top of the screen which I believe would allow me to mount the unit directly to the ceiling. I suspect this would look cleaner and avoid my having to hang 2 feet of suppora for the roller if i wwnt with the standard unit. Anyone uses this extension on their setup? I used heavy duty Velcro tape to attach to the roller directly. No issues in the summer on hot days. Ideally
you should always keep some of the screen rolled up on the roller though so if you want a 10 ft high screen I'd buy slightly larger. -
Thanks for the feedback. My plan with the extension piece was to keep a bit of that rolled up for support which would allow me to use the full 10x10 area of the impact screen. Not sure about getting a 10x11 impact screen as that may throw off the projection. I'm pretty much relegated to a 4:3 with the space I have.Last edited by HappyBirdie; 07-15-2023, 03:52 PM.Comment
