  • Foam for protecting the wall, behind net

Does anyone have any recommendations for which foam and how thick we should get to place on the wall behind the net of our simulator?

It would absorb some of the shot as the net isn’t super high quality or able to be set up like other people’s screens

    Thank you

You might want to think about leaving an air gap behind the screen rather than using foam directly behind it.

I have been unable to find a foam, when it's attached to a wall, that doesn't absorb the energy from the golf ball and return it back in the direction it came with any serious loss of velocity.

My setup right now has a 16 inch air gap behind the screen and then four inches of memory foam attached to the wall.

A couple of my friends who can really hit the ball well occasionally dimple into the pad but by that time the energy is has pretty much dissipated and is no longer a threat.

You'll have to spend some time finding out what the right distance is and how much of an air gap you need. Having your screen set up with ties to walls or ceilings with some type of bungee cord or flexible cord to allow it to absorb much of the shock and not create missiles coming back at you.

I used a memory foam mattress topper from Walmart. Stuck it in a folded in half harbor freight moving blanket hung with tarp clips. My screen and net are 6" from a concrete lower wall and upper sheet rocked wall. My balls(golf) will gently roll back to me !

What thickness of mattress topper did you use? I have 6" from my sheetrock and don't think I have had any hit the wall but only hitting wedges and 8 irons now once winter comes I will be playing and hitting longer clubs and drivers. Would rather the ball fall down instead of bouncing back

Mr. Ferguson has a great idea, that tarp is a good idea, certainly deadens the impact from the ball.
